1) Sam is not immune to death, he can still be killed as easily as anyone else, he just comes back after a bit, usually wading out of the ocean buttass naked and coughing up tar.
2) The only otherworldly connection he has is to a sort of Limbo where the first contact with the fae entity was made to begin with. He can very briefly commune with her that way, but it's purely involuntary on his part. The only thing he can do of his own free will is leave the interaction, but he generally doesn't out of guilt for seemingly leaving her alone.
3) This man can't do a lick of magic fae or otherwise
4) Isolated and underserved population, mostly. Then he got habituated and decided he was fine here
