Guest Villain Claim

Guest Villain Claim

For our 2024 Halloween Special, we'll be featuring an event themed around Demon Prince Aster that will involve a "Most Dangerous Game"-esque prompt where PCs will be assigned a "hunter" of Aster's choosing to chase and attempt to kill them. While some NPCs will be available for this role, we wanted to give players the opportunity to offer up their own nasties to do some spooky Halloween murder!

Each player can claim a single villainous character fit for the job to guest-star at Aster's behest. This character will need an independent journal, will need to be appropriately skilled at and enthusiastic about the task at hand, and will only be permitted to participate in this one specific event in October unless otherwise stated. (Note: they can hang out at the rest of the event if desired!) They will be arriving on the island via Aster as opposed to Mortanne. Any threads that qualify for AC bonus with a guest villain can be distributed to a permanent player character during Activity Check for the month of October ONLY.

If you're interested, please submit an application below! It's an abridged version of our normal application. All guest villain applications are due October 25th so please get them in as soon as you can! We're excited to see who makes an appearance! In the meantime, please check out our special Villain's Lounge TDM to test drive your baddies.

Player Name: Bash
Other Characters (if any): Darcy + Hawkeye

Character

Character Name: Puck/Robin Goodfellow
Character Age: Ageless but adult by all reasonable metrics
Canon: Folkloric but inspired heavily by A Midsummer Night's Dream
Canon Point: N/A
• ────────── •
Overview: The mischevious attendant to Lord Oberon, Puck/Robin Goodfellow is a True Fae of some power. He is easily amused and distractable, but also nimble and clever, and endlessly curious about mankind and their strange ways. Look we all read A Midsummer Nights Dream in high school you get the idea.
Modus Operandi: Puck fights in tandem with Lord Oberon [to be played by Guil], and while weaker in many regards, he makes up for it in trickery. He will bait potential victims through appearing as inanimate objects, animals, or people, trying to pixie-lead them into becoming lost and despairing. This shapeshifting is his primary ability, and while he is capable of maintaining his disguises very well, he is not infallable in this art, and careful observation can reveal the unnaturalness of his forms. Puck also possesses supernatural speed, which I will be choosing to play essentially like cartoon hammer-space, being able to appear as if he were waiting in the wings out of view. If pressed into direct combat, he will have whatever natural animal weaponry he thinks to shapeshift into, such as claws or fangs.
Weaknesses: Puck is a folkloric fae and thus possesses the weaknesses that fae are said to possess. In full; he is immensely vulnerable to iron, salt, holly, yarrow, and St-John’s-wart. He can be forced to count small objects, like grains of sand or eggshells in large enough quantities, and his pixie-leading can be prevented if his victim turns their clothes inside out. Failing any of these, his petty and mischevious nature can be turned back towards Oberon with some convincing and effort, which majorly disrupts both of their hunting efforts. Working out his name can also give the victim a temporary advantage over Puck, as he will be briefly upset that they were able to successfully guess it.
Preferred Victim:Folkloric knowledge or otherwise experience with fae are very very heavily suggested, but not necessarily required, to stand a chance of outfoxing Puck and Oberon. A character that is good-hearted or trusting would also be fun, as they would stand a better chance of being manipulated by Puck’s tactics. While a character who fights in very physical ways is not off the table, a character who will primarily be evading or otherwise not trying to pick a physical fight would be preferred, as to better mesh with the general pursuit vibe going on here.
